Anyone know of any online surveys that actually pay cash?

I had a professor in college that always talked about how she'd take a survey every week and she'd get paid cash. She wouldn't tell us where... but she said "they're out there". So has anyone ever been paid to take a survey and did you have to pay to sign up for a service to get these surveys? What's the deal? Thank you in advance for your help.

Reply:I have had good luck in the past with pinecone research. Hard to get in, as you have to be referred. I'm no longer a member there though :(. You could also try BzzAgent. Never received cash, but have tested cool products that I got to keep.

Reply:I know there's one but you have to be invited to join. And they only pay like 5 bucks a survey. I do harris polls and I get points. I've bought stuff like music downloads, restaurant gift certificates, magazines and other random stuff with my points.
