Are there any legit survey sites out there?

I'm taking care of sick mother and was looking for a way to make some extra money in spare time. The only survey sites I found either enter you in free drawings or you have to sign up for free offers you dont want. Don't any pay you cash? Not looking to get rich, only need about $200/$300 a week. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Are there any legit survey sites out there?
The rule, as always, is to stay away from those that ask you to pay before you can get these surveys.

Legitimate market survey companies such as Pinecone Research recruit members based on demographic characteristics -- e.g. mothers of babies 0-12 years old -- and will send surveys of products and services targeting this demographic group. Pinecone Research, however, pays only $5 per survey -- you're definitely not going to be rich with that. They can give you anywhere from 1-5 at most surveys in a month.

Other companies simply ask you to answer as many research as possible, and you don't earn anything just the chance to win at a raffle (which I find lame).

Reply:I am not sure! I have tried a lot of them and have not received one cheque yet. Lots of promises but nothing comes through. I started my own online business. I researched this for a long time. Because I had been taken before by on line survey make money, I was sceptical to say the least. I invested very little money and now I am up and running. Working full time out of my house. I am at home with my kids and within the next year my dream is to have my husband home working the business with me. Good Luck. Check this out if you are interested. www.opportunity4more.com

Reply:Yes, some pay cash...but expect $20 a month (occassionally more, sometimes less) not $200-300 a week. It doesn't take much time (2-3 hours a month or so), but I've found that even signing up with multiple sites (which I do suggest) I don't qualify for enough surveys to make more than that. You can also make a little extra by referring friends and such.

I've listed some of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or recieved other rewards like gift cards or CDS) on the following site, if you are interested:

http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys

I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc.

There are others out there. Be careful though, there are also scams. Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not agregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).

Also just recently came across a good survey ratings site that I've found very helpful:

If you have a digital camera, try ebay. If you or your mom has old stuff, if you do crafts, if you have a website you can sell advertising on, it will do better for you than surveys. Ask neighbors without computers or time if they have things they would like to sell and would let you take a percentage if you listed it for them. I'm not saying don't do the surveys...because for the time it takes it's totally worth it, but ebay can make you more money.

Clipping coupons and trading them online is actually very good thing. I take $10 off each $100 of groceries this way (which is as good as making $10 in my oppinion). Two good sites are www.couponchix.com and www.couponforum.com.

Affiliate programs are another way to earn money from home, if you have a website. If you're artistic or witty and can use a graphics program, www.cafepress.com or www.printfection.com can earn you money. But it takes 6 month to a year of promotion before you usually start to see good results with either of these methods, so I'm not sure if I would suggest this since it sounds like you need something right now.
Reply:NO!!! Be care full , I mean it!! They will fill your email with spam, sell your name and contact info and rip u off. Learn form my mistakes!! I got feed up and started the research and found alot of B.S. The best thing to do is look for a company, work at home that is, that is backed by the BBB, http://search.bbb.org/
